Hi I'm 23,single. I have a black mark under the head of my penis ie below coronal hypospadias. I guess its a scar. I hope its not a sign of any disease. Its been around 6days i have identified it. But I really don't know what exactly it is. And wen i touch the black maek it burns or else there is no pain oor irritation. Is it a serious matter or will time take care of it. Plz advice.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Appearance of any black colored mark associated with pain on any part of the body should be viewed with suspicion until proven otherwise. Black marks on body are usually due to melanocytic activity. These lesions can be simple naevus (moles), dysplastic moles, or malignant moles. A biopsy is required to look for the cause of hyerpigmentation. Biopsy involves taking a small fragment of skin surgically under the infleuenze of anesthesia and studying it under the microscope. Any specific lesion will be picked up and management can be planned accordingly.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
