Bleeding Nose In Infant When Upset, No Screaming. Concern?
My 2 year old niece has nose bleeds every time she gets upset. They only last a few minutes but there is usually a copious amount of blood. She doesn't throw violent tantrums or scream hard or anything. I've tried to get her parents to take her to the doctor but they just say she'll be fine. Is this something I should be concerned about??
Hello Thank you for placing your query on Health Care Magic It is definitely something to be concerned about. Nose bleed is usually seen in children who pick their nose. If she has that habit then she should be encouraged to change that. But more important;y a visit to the doctor is essential because sometimes a few rare causes can be mixed. It is important to note her blood pressure. It might be the first sign of her having an elevated blood pressure due to any cause. She may be having a small tumor in her nose (mainly a collection of dilated blood vessels which bleed). Hopefully she won't turn to be harboring any of these but still repeated blood loss can also lead to anemia. It needs to be checked for and corrected. So it is essential to visit a pediatrician or a ENT specialist. Hope that helps God bless you Dr Anand Sinha
