Bloating And Have Been Feeling Lightheaded, Dizzy, Some Headaches And Very Irritable

Hi I am female age 42. Eat a healthy diet (no junk food). Exercise very regularly and have always been generally fit and slim. Am petite. 5 foot tall. my problem is modest sharp abdominal pains but severe bloating. Bloating worse in the afternoon/evening to the point that my trousers/skirts no longer fit. Lightheadedness, dizzyness. Tiredness. As some background I became pregnant in March this year and was very large at just five weeks, My clothes no longer fit and I looked 4/5 months pregnant. I had a miscarriage at six weeks but remained bloated for another four weeks with bleeding for three weeks. I was given an internal scan at that time and was told the miscarriage was complete. After the fourth week, I went to Mexico on holiday for two weeks and at this time the bloating went down. During the second week in Mexico, I got a stomach upset with some diaorrhea. The lower abdominal cramps have remained since the holiday (five weeks) and now I have become very bloated with wind especially after eating or drinking. I have been feeling lightheaded, dizzy, some headaches and very irritable for the last two weeks. A Pregnancy I did this week is negative although I am very early in my cycle and my period is not due until 1 weeks time. My period last month was normal. I am actively trying to conceive. The cramps I am feeling are related to my bowels and the whole feeling is making me feel very down. I have had to buy new clothes to fit my abdomen in but they fall off the rest of me as I am still very slim apart from the bloating. I wonder if anyone can offer some help. Is is possible I have some kind of bacterial infection. If it is, can it be treated okay even if I become pregnant? Many thanks.

Hi Jan King,
Welcome to HCM.
What you describe as bloating may not be just gaseous distension of abdomen, but abdominal fat may also have a significant role to play.
For gaseous distension, you should have plenty of liquids so as to loosen your stools and eat fresh fruits to assist in smooth passage of stools. Once you have regular bowel movements, gaseous distention will be taken care of.
For abdominal wall fat, restrict fat content in your diet, do regular light exercises.
Wishing you all the best.

Hi Mrs.Jan King ...welcome to HCM....I have gone through Ur case.., age is criteria of this case...that means
1) First you are approaching Menopausal stage.., Now you are suffering from Pre Menopausal syndromes (PMS) ..,here U mentioned symptoms like abdominal cramps ,diarrhoea, lightheadache, dizziness, tiredness.... ok first you consult good gynaecologist..to combat these problems...bloating abdomen also seen in PMS..the next one is about Pregnancy....100% conceiving chances between 18 years and 28 years after 30 years conceiving chance will be going down ...after 35 years it may go down upto 30% now your chances very meagre ly(too low) i.e. 5% .....hence if you go for Pre Men0pausal Treatment (PMT) every thing could come to normal side...now very good treatment available like PREMENSE... tablets daily for 3 months.....along with PRIMOSE capsules.
2) For wind and bloating is due to Hyperacidity also..go for Tab Omeprazole 20 mg before breakfast for 15 days
3) For diarrhoea and bloating of abdomen is due to Irritant Bowel Syndrome (IBS) hence orally take Ofloxacin and Ornidazole tablets two times daily for 5 days.....take opinion from your Gynaecologist also..goodluck...

Hi there,

Just curious if you ever figured out your problem? It sounds similiar to my case - I went to Mexico 3 months ago and 2 weeks after returning had nausea and a bit of diarheea. I chalked it up to traveler's diarhhea and figured it'd go away. The diarrhea did after 2 days, but I remained nausaes for 2.5 weeks which led to abdominal bloating. I then became fatigued, had headaches, became irritable, and felt full very quickly after meals. I just found out today (3 months later) I have giardiasis (parasite). I am now being treated with antibiotics. Anyhow, just thought I'd respond and see if you ever figured out your problem and if it indeed was giardiasdis.
