Blocked Nose And Throat In Mornings Since 1 1/2 Years, Nasonex Taken, No Improvement, Treatment?
When I wake up in the morning my nose is very plugged and so is my throat. I have a lot of sinus pressure , and my throat is really sore. I have had this problem for almost a year and a half. My doctor prescribed nasonex which helped but it stopped working after a few months. I ve found that the longer I sleep the more stuffed up I get. Any ideas?
Hi
Most probably what you have is Allergic rhinitis as Nasonex helped you for some time. Rarely sinus infection can give rise to similar problems. So it is important to examine you, in an attempt to differentiate between the two. X ray or CT scan of sinuses may be required. All of your symptoms can be due to one of above diseases.
If it is only allergy then a different type of nasal steroid spray with or without antihistamine tablet may help. Rarely oral steroid may be required
If it is sinus infection a course of antibiotic and nasal decongestants may be needed
So to decide all these consult an ENT specialist
Wish you good health
