Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Hemorrhoids usually occur when persons have a history of
constipation because straining increases abdominal pressure.
They usually present with bleeding on wiping, itching and discomfort. It is usually to have blood loss in the absence of defecation.
Treatment involves use of fruits and vegetables, whole grain foods, using the bathroom when the urge occurs, may need stool softeners to reduce straining, drinking more water.
He is already using the epsom salt baths, these can also be helpful.
In general an acute episode may last 2-3 weeks.
He may want to consider visiting his general doctor for a review because there are other causes of
rectal bleeding that would need to be ruled out.
I hope this helps
