Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking warfarin, 10 mg 6 days a week and 7.5 on Sundays. I just started having a lot of blood come out as I make stool. It seemed to easy off for a day but it is back. The stool does not seem dark in color the last movement was light in color, just like I poured a cup of blood in toilet after I had finished any suggestions.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Warfarin is most potent anticoagulant antiplatelets & fibrinolytics , it develops hemorrhage , diarrhea, drop in haematocrit . As you mentioned that you are taking Warfarin so the cause of bleeding /rectum or from anus may be due to . 1 Side effects of Warfarin 2 Hemorrhoids , diagnosis can be confirmed by physical as well clinical examination by a surgeon. 3 Any disease in large intestine such ac carcinoma , colitis , diagnosis can be confirmed by colonoscopy . In my opinion first of all consult your treating doctor and get his opinion regarding this .. Good luck, Dr. HET
