Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, I am a 33 year old house wife. Today I found blood in my stool and I can see the basin full of red. After sometime my 4 and half year old daughter went to toilet and I saw blood in her stool too. Morning my urine was dark in color and its almost like red...my daughter also complains the same... what could be the reason for this?
If two persons has same symptoms, infection seems the most probable reason. It can be bacterial or viral gastrointestinal infection. You should have diarrhea or at least loose stools, nausea, weakness. Fever can be present. Dark urine can be caused by dehydration due to diarrhea or an infection (diarrhea and gastrointestinal infection quite often gives also urinary tract infection).
You should definitely visit your doctor. Full blood work, abdominal ultrasound and stool tests should be done.
Hope this will help. Regards.
