Blood In Stool, Mucus, Yellow Discharge, Pus Cells, E.coli. Started Taximo. What Treatment Can Be Provided?
My 2.5 month old started getting blood in her stool on 20th may, 2013. stoll test was given for routine and culture. it showed pus cells 40-50 and e.coli was grown after 48hrs of incubation.
-Thepaediatric started her on taximo. she weighs 5.2kgs and i was giving 2ml of taximo drops twice daily for 7 days. The pus cells came down to 15-20 on the 7th day.
As they did not diminsh, the doctor changed the salt to wallamycin 5ml thrice daily for 5 days but within giving it for 2 days her stoll became very mucosy and smelly, still yellow though. pus cells 40-50
He then stopped wallamycin after two days and started amikacin IV for 5 days. 75mg. after the 5th shot pus cells have increased to 60-80 again and the stools have become extremely watery and green.
she been on enterogerminai 2 mini bottles since start ofthis problem. Shes been exclusively breastfed baby. Now they have advised me to be off dairy completely which i have been since last 3 days but her stools are still very very watery, greenish and frothy. SHe has trouble sleeping too. My question is that is it is a milk allergy or lactose intolerance that they are now treating her for would that still reflect pus cells in her stool?
please help.

hi, this is definitely a infective diarrhaea, because ecoli was found in the stool. please see your pediatrician for antibiotics. along with that Zinc supplements are required to reduce the severity and duration of the diarrhea. keep watch on improving sanitation, washing hand before handling food and after attending tiolet.
