Hello, thanks for using health care magic.
Blood in urine (hematuria) requires urgent diagnosis and prompt management because the causes vary from simple strenous exercise to very severe affections such as cancer.
Urinary tract infections are associated with hematuria, but after several treatment unsuccessfully, its time to review treatment and think of other possible causes.
Urinary tract infections occur repeatedly in people with an abnormal renal system anatomy because the abnormal anatomy favors infections. This can be ruled out through anatomical tests including renal ultrasound and contrast enhance x-rays.
Other possible causes include bladder or kidney stones, kidney diseases such as
glomerulonephritis ( could be due to diabetes, immune disease,
streptococcal infection etc) and congenital kidney diseases, drugs such as aspirin, penicillin etc, kidney trauma, parasitic infections (
schistosomiasis) cancers as well as strenous exercises.
You should get your girlfriend to see a
urologist and for detail work ups to be done including ultrasound, CT scan, urinalysis plus sediment analysis, cystoscopy etc.
Best regards and hope this helps you.
