Blood Work, Urinalysis Done. Urinalysis Showed A+1 For Hemoglobin. What Does It Mean?
Hello, I saw my Dr. Last week for my yearly physical, and she sent me to the lab for routine bloodwork and Urinalysis . The results of my Urinalysis came back normal except for A + 1 for Hemaglobin. I received a phone call from my Dr s office today asking me to have another Urinalysis done next week. What does this result mean, and what is my Dr checking for? Could you please tell me the range of severity that Hemoglobin is measured on. Thank you
Its good that you are doing your yearly physical examination. As all the tests are normal, you should not worry much about.
Regarding, Hemoglobin in urine, there can be many normal causes for this like a very minor injury in genital tract and in females, it can be due to menstrual blood.
It can be due to some vigorous exercise or a very tiny stone also.
Your doctor have advised the right thing to repeat the test one week later.
Regarding severity, it can be measured with the number of rbc in urine and amount of hemoglobin on an automatic counter.
Would advise you to just relax and do a repeat testing and consult your doctor.
Regards,
Dr. Ramesh
