Bone On Top Of Spine Sore, Swollen For Months. What Is Causing This?
the bone at the top of my spine at the base of my neck between my shoulders is swollen and sore. The soreness goes across my shoulder blades and around the front by my collar bone...it feels like my head is falling forward from the its own weight. this has been going on for a couple of months and is getting really sore....even when I get into bed and life the covers up it hurts...what could be causing this?
Based on the description, I suspect that you might have suffered Clay-shoveller's injury of your lower cervical or upper thoracic vertebral spinous processes secondary to a lifting of heavy weight or load which might have went unnoticed.
An xray of the involved area will diagnose this condition.
The general guidelines of treatment are as follows -
* Avoiding activities which puts more strain on the involved area * Ice packing to resolve the pain & swelling * Analgesic & anti inflammatory medicines as needed * Physical therapy in the form of moist heat application to relax the tender muscles
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
