Breakthrough Bleeding With Mild Cramps While Taking Microgynon. Should I Stop Medication?
Hi i have still got a full week of Microgynon pills to take (which i have been on for 7 years) and iv had 3 days of break through bleeding, discharge and mild cramps ...the bleeding seems to have stopped now but i still have mild cramps and was wondering whether to stop the pills and see if my period comes early or to continue taking the remaining pills and have my break as normal...iv never had any break through bleeding before on the pill even at the very beginning...thanks
Hi, Thanks for the query. Side effects like breakthrough bleeding, intermenstrual spotting etc can be seen with hormonal pills. These symptoms can occur at any time. Alteration in the time of intake of pills can lead to withdrawal bleeding also. If you have taken the pills as per the guidelines and if there is no possibility of pregnancy, no need to worry. You can continue the tablets as usual. After one week you can take break and can continue next pack as per the schedule.
Take care.
