Breast Growth, Back Pain After Taking TriNessa For Ovarian Cysts. Should I Take Pelvic Test?
I was told by a gynecologist this past July that I had 20 cysts in total in both of my ovaries. Then I went to another doctor in August who told me I didn't need another pelvic exam done since once was already done in July. So he just prescribed me birth control (TriNessa). However I didn't start taking the birth control until November. It's been almost a month now, but it seems like the cysts are causing more pain. Is this because the birth control is working? I've also been noticing (since August), that I've been having significant breast growth (which isn't normal) and back pain (which as well isn't normal). Should I have another pelvic exam? And I have been tested, I am not pregnant. I am 20 years old.
Increase in breast size can sometimes be noted with oral contraceptives. This is because of fluid retention that can occur with these hormones.
This increased size tends to resolve after a few cycles.
In terms of the ovarian cysts, oral contraceptives are commonly prescribed for women with this diagnosis. They should not cause you any pain. If you are experiencing pain it is possible that it is related one of the complications of ovarian cysts such as infection, perforation, inflammation, hemorrhage (bleed).
It would be best to see your doctor for an examination
I hope this helps
