Breastfed Child Has Irregular Stools, No Pain Or Discomfort. Worried
My daughter is 2 months old and completely on breastfeed ,from past three weeks her stools have become irregular, she passes her stools every third or forth day without any pain or discomfort , the stools are semi solid and dark yellow..do I need to worry about this, when will she pass stools regularly? Also should I give her carmicide syrup for making her motions regular. Please help!
This is completely normal and expected in infants around 6 weeks of age. The change is due to the slowing of the intestines so her pattern right now is "regular" but subject to change at any time! There is no reason to give her any medication as soft stools, regardless of their frequency, are not constipation.
