Breathlessness Due To Taking Flowmax. Suggested Surgery For Fixing Urethra Sphincter Being Not Round. Any Risks?

I'm taking flowmax for basically all the same symptoms as people with an enlarged prostrate except I don't have an enlarged prostrate but I think the doctor said something like the Urethra sphincter that is supposed to be perfectly round is not inside me (he put a scope with a camera on it to look inside my penis)Anyways I have been on flowmax for about 2 years and it was working great but just recently I found I couldn't walk 10 feet with out getting out of breath and dr. google told me that was a symptom of flowmax in some people so I stopped taking it and I seem to be better now.

The specialist said they could perform surgery to fix but thought the pills would be the better option if they worked. Does the surgery have any risks?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Yes flomax ,if used for long time develops cough, rhinitis, breathlessness .
But few patients can tolerate very easily after stopping the drug for sometime.
As far as concerned about the surgery of urethra ,this is a very delicate surgery & requires skill , so if you want surgery of urethra please consult an experienced urologist and get it operated .
Operation is the best treatment for stricture of abnormality in urethral passage.
Recurrence is most common feature in surgery so take care.
Good luck.
