Broke Sternum And A Rib. Advised Physical Therapy During Follow Up. Second Opinion Required?
I recently broke my sternun and a rib on the 16th of Jan. My jobs is in shipping I lift hydraulic hoses. My first follow up the dr. said it could tske 6 to 8 weeks to heal. I went for another follow up yesterday saw a different he wanted me take physical therapy . He says I can go back to work on the 13th Feb,I feel thats too soon At my job I pull and push carts also lift 20 to 50pd most the day . should I get another opinion from the first doctor that took care of me.
Any bone injury might take 6 to 8 weeks to heal properly and not to cause further problems. You might need to discuss your job requiring you to pull weights with your doctor. Most doctors take job as a desk one unless specified. Doing heavy work as mentioned by you may cause delayed healing and persistence of pain.
Hope this helps.
