Broken Tibia Healed. Has IM Nail. Pain At Fracture Site, Walking Difficult. Cure?

Hi, I broke my TIbia 12 months ago (shin, immediately above ski boot) quite badly. It has an IM Nail. It took a long time to heal (be pain free) but for the last few months has been great. Three days a go it started to hurt right at the fracture site and it is getting worse to the point walking is difficult. Seems wierd....? I haven't done anything to it.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You might need to get a X ray of the fracture site just to see if the fracture fragments and nail are in place. It is possible that there was little stress at the fracture site which initially went unnoticed. Your orthopedician needs to check your leg for any signs of inflammation and if you need any supportive care for your limb.

Hope this helps
