Brown Patches On Arm And Neck. What Can They Be? Are They Exfoliated?

Hello, my teen daughter has recently been getting light brown patches on her arm and on her neck . She is very fair skinned. She got her very first light brown patch when she was seven or eight years old on the underside of her arm. These new patches look as though they could be exfoliated because they look dry. Her friends are wondering if they are hickies which they are not.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

With little history, it seems that your daughter has got tinea versicolor.
There is brown patches with mid exfoliation and dryness.
It is superficial fungal infection caused by malesezzia furfur.
It is benign condition and cured by simple tretment.
Antifungal tablets and cream would improve the disease.
Avoid soap for bath, she may use dettol liquid.
Cleanse the scalp with shampoo containing ketoconazole ...

I think , let her take to consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment ..

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
