Brownish Vaginal Discharge After Menopause. Pap Smear Report Normal. Anything To Be Concerned?
Hi,
I am 57 years old, already menopause for almost 5 years. I have very light brown or rather very light red discharge (one or two small spots) once in a while during these three months starting from February 2013.. I do not experience any abdominal pain or discomfort. I just had a pap smear done in April and was clear of cervical cancer. Is there any cause for conern?

Spotting is never normal, and more so in a menopausal woman. Unless the cause is identified and considered normal or without consequences, consider it an unanswered worry.
A pap smear basically looks at the cervix. But spotting can originate from many other sites including the uterus and the vaginal. The cervix has been cleared, what of the vaginal and the uterus? Please, consult your doctor and talk with him/her so that together you can figure out what the origin is.
