Bruise And Pain On The Tibia After An Injury. Need X-ray?
I ran into a metal stair on the muni and hit my shin. i can't tell if its a minor injury or a big one and if its a bruise or minor fracture. i see no bruise but black line where the dent in my tibia bone is. It hurts around the bone if i touch it or if i don't wrap it tight. i can't stomp or jump or my injury will sting. sometimes if i leave it alone or put pressure without the bandage wrap, it will hurt sharply until it goes away or i wrap it again. I have no idea if i should go to the doctors or not and get an xray.
Hello, Thanks for writing in. If there is significant swelling in the region of the bruise and very difficult to move your leg, only then can we suspect a fracture. Apart from bones, there are muscles in our legs. In your case it might be that there was a slight soft tissue injury. If there is not severe swelling and you can continue carrying out your daily activities, I think there is no need to get X ray done. Hope this helps.
