Bruise, Pinkish Area Around, Located On Forearm. Got Bits From A Camp. Should I See A Doctor?

My son came home from camp several weeks ago with bites. One of them seems to be infected (I think he wouldn't leave it alone- don't think it is a spider bite or anything) We just spent a week at the beach and it developed a raised pinkish area around it. We medicated and covered with what we had. It seem to pull some gunk out and now is not pink but almost looks bruised around the site and is kind of firm to the touch. Any ideas to treat or should we let a doctor look at it? It does not hurt or itch and is located on his forearm. Thanks- Concerned Mom

Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Based on the information you have given, looks like the wound is infected. I will advise you to take him to his primary physician and have the wound examined. Any wound, including bites, that is of unknown nature should not be ignored. Looks like the wound has been on his forearm for quite some time now and it is still not healing. I will certainly have your son examined by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
