Bruising And Pain In The Upper Arm And Wrist. Difficulty In Bending The Hand. Pain In The Waist. What Is Wrong?

Hi I had a fall on Monday, went for X-ray yesterday as a lot of pain and bruising still in my wrist and forearm. Doctor said after an xray that I had nothing broken. But I can't bend my hand forward in the slightest with very sever pain and backwards is pretty much the same. Bruising in getting worse along with the pain which is worse when bending but there is always a dull pain even when resting my wrist. What's going on?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

Its interesting to know that you did not have any fracture.
However, injuries to ligaments or tendons may as well produce
severe pains, swellings and loss of function occurring immediately
or shortly after the trauma.

Since there is no bony lesion, there is no great fear.
You need to rest the wrist and forearm for a couple of days,
apply ice on the locations
and take some pain killers such as ibuprofen and
paracetamol/acetaminphen to relief you of the pain.

It can take up to a couple of weeks before the pains finally
get over.
Most importantly do not strain the forearm and the wrist.

Best regards
Dr Achuo
