Bruising Like Overripe Peach. Taken Meloxicam. Side Effects Of Taking Meloxicam?

I was recently put on Meloxicam about a month or 2 ago and i started bruising like an overripe peach. I read the list of side effects today and easily bruising was the first one listed. I was worried it was more serious like organ failure, i'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and i will never take another meloxicam again. i never bruised like this before i was put on this drug. do you think that's what's causing the bruising?

Dear patient,

Indeed, one of the side effects of meloxicam and other such anti-inflammatories is that of platelet inhibition, and predisposition to bruising. You should hold the medication as you have and check with your doctor to see if any additional lab tests such as hemoglobin, platelet count and kidney function need to be obtained.

Yours truly,
