Bump On Head After A Fall, Dried Blood Around Nose And Face, Blood Clots. Used Ice Pack. Will He Be Okay?
Good Morning. My son who will be five years old next month fell last night and wacked his on a cement stair. He has what looks like a raspberry on the back of his head and a slight bump. I put an icepack on it immediately but then after about 5 minutes he said he was fine and off he went back playing outside. However this morning when he woke up i noticed he had dried blood around his nose and face. I looked at one of his blankets and there were streaks of dried blood and then a couple of spots on his sheets of blood. I had him blow his nose a few times which he had been sneezing and he had 2 good size blood clots that came out. Now i dont know if this is just a coincidence but my son never gets nose bleeds. Should i be worried and give the pediatrician a call? I am just nervous and concerned... Please get back to me ASAP. Thank you Kayla
Hi, Based on your history your son had a fall following which he had nasal bleeds. He should be shown to Neurologist/Pediatrician for clinical examination .He requires CT scan brain with paranasal sinus and bone windows to rule out structural damage and treatment planned accordingly.Meantime don't allow him to exert , apply nasal packs and give ibugesic syrup for pain relief.
