CAT Scan For Pneumonia Done, Pericardial Cyst Found. Should This Cyst Be Removed? Can Surgery Be Done At 82 Years?
I am an 82 year old male in good health. during a cat scan for Pneumonia a pericardial cyst was discovered. I have several of the symptoms described for the conditions; the most predominant is a cronic cough. I am in the process of full diagnosis by a cardiac surgeon, but my next appointment is 3 weeks away. Mild anxiety and curiosity causes me to ask 2 questions: 1. Should I have the thing removed if that is a viable options? 2. Does my age preclude surgery?
Hi, if you are a healthy and fit person with out anemia, it can be done but if it is necessory. Cyst is not a thing to develop in short time , it may not be related to the present symptoms. If the cyst has any relation with this condition, the doctors may think of removing the cyst. Thank you.
