Hi, I am a 36yr. old female, and I was just diagnosed with COPD. I still smoke, and I was wondering how quickly will my COPD progress if I continue to smoke? I smoke about a pack a day.
Smoking is an absolute risk factor for COPD and it is high time, that you start cutting down on it. It irritates the lungs and causes a lot of problems henceforth.

The natural history and prognosis of COPD are variable and incompletely understood. They probably depend upon a number of factors including genetic predisposition, environmental exposures, comorbidities. A number of factors have been identified as prognostic indicators for COPD. Additional predictors of accelerated lung function decline, diminished physical function, and/or mortality in patients with COPD include
Airways responsiveness, Cigarette smoking, Low body-mass index (BMI ≤21), HIV infection, Increased airway bacterial load, Decreased exercise capacity, Peak oxygen consumption (VO2), , Elevated C-reactive protein (>3 mg/L), Male gender, Chest computed tomography showing presence of emphysema
I think you should quit smoking "its enough"
