Hello---a friend went to the hospital for pneumonia. During a CT scan the hospital documented she had a small hiatal hernia. She was released. She left the hospital and was attempting to cross a main road when a car lost control and struck her. She had multiple fractures and crush to her lower extremities. Tender to the ribs and an abdomen abrasion. Treated at ER. A week later she was back to the hospital and diagnosed with pulmonary embolus and the hernia was now documented as moderate in size. Hernia required surgery and started on coumidin for embolus. Would being struck by the car caused the hernia size to increase?
