Cab Pressure Hives Cause Itchy Welts On Hands, Shoulders And Legs?

I have been getting red itchy welts on my hands, arms, shoulders, legs and they are getting worse. This started last October. They seem to come from any type of medium to heavy pressure... Like carrying a heavy grocery bag, kneeling, carrying books or lots of papers at once. I am a teacher. Benedryl cream helps, but it is getting very annoying having to stop and put it on many times a day. What would cause these pressure hives?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to pressure urticaria. Pressure urticaria is an uncommon type of hives that occurs after the skin has been under pressure.
I suggest to:
- Reduce pressure stimuli
- Use antihistamines such as Cetirizine
- Use topical corticosteroid clobetasol propionate to reduce inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
