Can a pregnancy Test be Negative But Still Have Missed Periods?
Hello doctor.. I am 25 . I had sex on 11 April. it was second day when my periods start...I took ipill on 11 after 3 hours of sex..my period was supposed to.come on 7th May according to 28 days cycle.today is 9th..I wonder if I am pregnant..I had UTP test on 6th May..which was negative..plz suggest the reason for delayed periods..

You had unprotected sex but you took emergency contraceptive pills after 3 hours of sex. You have missed periods but pregnancy test is negative. Delayed periods commonly occurs due to hormonal imbalances as the the i-Pill interferes with the hormones level of the body. Other medical conditions that may cause delayed periods are anemia, stress, weight loss or weight gain, thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, etc.
You are suggested to take another pregnancy test after a couple of days, get per vaginal examination done by a gynecologist to detect bulky uterus. Your gynecologist may tell you to get USG done to detect ectopic pregnancy. You will have to get blood works and other required tests done to detect the pathology causing symptoms so that it can be treated at the earliest.
