Hi, my husband gets drug tested at work. Last night he was tested and later that evening he realised he had taken some Kalms during the morning as he works nights and this helps him sleep sometimes. I have checked the label and it says it contains Valerian which can give a false positive for benzodiazipam. The the amount of valerian in each tablet is 45mg and he had taken 4 tablets which is the dosage.. Please would you know if it s possible for a false reading with this amount in your system. Thankyou
It certainly is possible. Depends upon the sensitivity of the drug test. Usually, at the time of the test the person collecting the specimen asks if the patient is taking any type of prescription or even NON-prescription medication or whether they'd eaten anything such as salad dressing with poppy seed, etc. in it. He may wish to alert the lab to his ingeston of Valerian just so they're aware and in case something comes up positive.
