Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently had a mini gastric bypass done and my doc prescribed actigall to take while I was losing at least 10 pounds a month. My PCP called me because I recently had labs done and my prolactin levels were elevated. Could this be from taking Actigall?
Actigall is not known to cause changes in prolactin levels though everyone may react differently to medication.
Increased prolactin can be related to: (1) side effects of medication- may want to review any other meds (2)low levels of thyroid hormone (3)kidney disease (4)liver disease (5)presence of a mass in the pituitary
I hope this helps
