Thank you for your query
Would you please clarify a few things for me?
1)do you have a history of allergies /asthma /bronchitis?
2)did you have any fever? Any sputum/productive cough? If so, what color?
3)do you have any
chest discomfort or breathing difficulty?
4) do you have any
acid reflux /
gastritis /heart burn.
Solmux and ambrosia are
mucolytic drugs. They thin the sputum/secretions, if present, which helps to cough it out easier?
Cephalexin is an antibiotic which may be prescribed for a respiratory Infection.
To answer your question, you may take ambroxol & Cephalexin together.
I would like to add that cough can occur due to allergies, where the allergen can cause inflammation in your airways causing it to release fluid and mucus which narrows the airway by spasm of its muscles (
bronchospasm).
If this is the case, you may have high pitched musical noisy breath sounds (when auscultated) and will need bronchodilators to receive your cough.
Steroids and antibiotics maybe necessary if bronchodilators alone don't help and if you develop an infection.
Another common reason for cough is infection. An uncomplicated viral or bacterial infection may go away on its own. If not, antibiotics and symptomatic treatment may be required
Stress can prolong and Infection. Sometimes, even after your infection has gone, cough alone may persist due to irritated mucosa.
Dry weather, breathing through your mouth can prolong your cough.
If you are on certain medications, including nasal decongestants, it could dry up your mouth and throat.
Increased
gastric acid and it's reflux into your throat could irritate your throat and cause cough
I recommend you see us physician for a physical to rule out allergic and infectious causes. He/she will need to know any medication that you are on.
Drink plenty of water, soups, fresh juices count (caffeinated drinks will dehydrate). Try not to stress too much, if you are a mouth breather, make a conscious effort to breathe through the nose.(at night, sleep on your side, avoid alcohol, use humidifier if it's too dry).
Air conditioning dries the air which may exacerbate the dry throat
If you feel your throat is dry and cough is more at night, have a cup of warm water with honey right before bed(honey helps to coat the throat). Have dinner at east two hrs before bedtime. Have small sips of water throughout the day. (you need at least 2-2.5 liters a day-more depending on environmental and health conditions)
Hope this helps and you feel better.
