Can Amlodac AT And Jupiros F Be Taken Together For High BP And Cholesterol?

I have been prescribed Amlodac 5 and Jupiros 5 for high blood pressure (130/80) and marginal cholesterol (162). Are these drugs safe and without any side effects? I found in the website that Jupiros belong to statin group of drugs and have many side effects. Is taking this drug safe for my health?

Hi.
Yes, it can be taken for the treatment of high BP and high cholesterol.

Amlodac AT contains Amlodipine and Atenolol.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker is effective in lowering the high BP.
Generally it is a safe medication, however it may cause peripheral edema (swelling around the ankles and feet), constipation, increased heart beats, flushing and headache.

Atenolol is a cardioselective (beta1 selective) beta blocker.
Its most common side effects include decreased heart rate, fatigue, weakness, and difficulty in breathing in patients suffering from asthma.

Whereas Jupiros (Rosuvastatin) is effective in lowering high blood cholesterol level and is generally well tolerated.

However it may cause myopathy (muscle pain, tenderness or weakness), liver dysfunction, stomach upset in some individuals.

You must stop this drug if you develop myopathy and liver dysfunction which will be reflected by increased enzymes such as CPK, SGOT, SGPT, Alkaline phosphatase or increased bilirubin.

Hope these answer your query.
