Can Amlodipine Dosage Be Increased If There Is No Relief From Headache, Fever And Cough After Taking The Prescribed Dosage?
Hi I take lisinopril 20/25 once daily and amlodipine 10mg. And Taytulla once at night. 2 days ago I started having chest congestion with a wet cough. Tonight i have a fever of 100.6 , still coughing, headache, my heart is fluttering and my bp is 153/104. Should I take another amlodipine?
The simple answer is no. You've already taken the maximum daily dose of amlodipine (10mg) and you shouldn't take any more of it. Besides that, if you don't have serious cardiovascular disorders (advanced heart failure or an aneurysm) blood pressures like 153/104 do not raise serious concerns. In many cases, a high blood pressure may be caused by pain (a headache or other types of pain.)
Relieving the pain may correct the blood pressure. If you do have serious cardiovascular disorders or serious symptoms like shortness of breath or neurological symptoms then a visit to the ER is recommended. Your blood pressure will be dealt with there.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
