Can Amoxicillin And Fluconazole Be Taken Together?
Can I take amoxicillin (1000 mg) twice a day, and fluconazole (100 mg) at the same time? I have the fungal infection in my mouth from chemo (ACT currently in the AC part, second treatment today) and am taking the amoxicillin for 6 more days for strep C
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Amoxicillin and Flucloxacillin both are Penicillin group of antibiotics and Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is active for a large number of bacteria while Flucloxacillin is a narrow spectrum antibiotic that is active against a few bacteria.. Another thing is that antibiotics can cause excessive fungal growth as it kills the good bacteria also that resist growth of opportunistic organisms that cause infection.. As you already have Thrush due to Chemo treatment you should not take Flucloxacillin and just continue amoxicillin.. In case if you still wish to take Flucloxacillin consult your treating Oncologist and take advice.. You can also take antifungal medicines like Nystatin mouthwash and clotrimazole lozenges and take Probiotics like Yoghurt in diet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
