Can Amoxicillin And Prednisone Be Mixed Together And Given To An Infant?
My 19 month old is prescribed 5.75 ml of amoxicillin and 2ml of prednisone..every time I give him the prednisone he throws it up..I ve tried mixing it with different thing and still throws it up..this morning I put the amoxicillin in the syringe and also the prednisone so it was mixed together..and he took it..is this ok?
I understand your concern. Antibiotics and steroids (such as Prednisone) are sometimes given together to fight stubborn infections. Prednisone decreases inflammation, while antibiotics fight the organisms causing the infection, therefore it is essential that your child takes both. It is fine to give them both at the same time and mixing them in a syringe is a good way to give them to your child since he doesn't tolerate prednisone on its own. So keep doing that.
Wishing your child good health and all the best.
