Hello! I read your question and understand your concern.
Hypertension during pregnancy is a well known condition. Eventhough most hypertensive mothers have healthy babies, the condition should be taken seriously as it can be dangerous for the mother and the baby. Hypertension may have been present before in some women, but it is discovered during pregnancy, or it may develop only during pregnancy month which is called gestational pregnancy.
Amlodipine (amtas) is a antihypertensive drug. It belongs to category C of the FDA (food and drug association) pregnancy categories. The FDA definition of category C include the drugs that in animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
The antihypertensive drugs most frequently used safely in pregnancy are methyldopa,
nifedipine, nodolol, labetolol etc. The drugs to be absolutely avoided are ACE inhibitors (like enalapril, captopril etc) and
Angiotensin II receptor antagonists/blockers (like valsartan,
olmesartan etc)
I hope i have been of help and everything is fine. Kind regards
