Can Ashwagandha Be Taken While On Resperdone And Xanax?

I take .5 mg Resperdone and 2 mg Xanax. May I add the herbal supplements ashwagandha and holy basil in order to completely wean off the psychotropic drugs which I ve been on for 16 years. Highest levels I was ever taking were 2 mg Resperdone and 6 mg Xanax. I also take 75mg Venlaflexine daily.

Hi,

Yes, you can take these drugs, and gradually reduce Xanax dose, until stopping it.

It is not recommendable to take Xanax for a prolonged time because it can lead to addiction and tolerance.

But, I am afraid that these drugs cannot substitute the effects of Risperidone or Venlafaxine. You may just reduce the dose and see if everything is ok.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
