Can Atorvastatin Cause Painful Spasms In The Thigh And Lower Backache?
I have been taking Atorvastatin for 1 month and I m having spasms in my upper thighs that get me out of bed almost crying. Also, I started Boniva at the same time and had very painful lower pelvis pain.I stopped taking Boniva after a weak because I thought the pain was coming from Boniva but I still have lower back pain could this be the Atorvastatin.I have never taken meds on a regular basis before. I felt really good before I started taking meds. I also was asked if I wanted a daily pill or 1 a month for Boniva, I chose 1 a month.Thank you for your help. I m 74 yrs.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Muscle spasms are a relatively common side effect of statin and also atorvastatin. These symptoms usually go away on its own. If the symptoms continue you should discuss with your doctor about an alternative medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
