Can Avamys Nasal Spray Be Used When Child Snores Loudly?
My 2.5 yr old son always snores loudly in his sleep and it s very disruptive for his breathing. The ENT prescribed Avamys nasal spray to use once daily for two months and then re-evaluate. I am hesitant to give a corticosteroid daily for such a duration when he is so young. What is the success rate of this medication, if it works is it possible that once we stop the adenoids will just enlarge again? Surgery to remove them seems like a scary option too but I m not sure whether that is perhaps at least better than corticosteroids? Thankyou

Snoring can be due to may reasons such as nasal obstruction, vibration of nasal structures & uvula, Mis-positioned jaw. Your ENT surgeon has suspected Nasal obstruction, therefore he has given your son this corticosteriod spray to get rid of any allergy or infection that may be causing obstruction.
Avamys nasal spray contains the active ingredient fluticasone furoate. This steriod can be used in long term & it would not cause any damage to nasal mucosa. Systemic effect or ill effects to other body parts is also negligible, as dose is very small & is given locally.
So you should use Avamys nasal spray once daily for two months and then re-evaluate.
