Can Avelox Cause Death?

Hi my name is Patsy and my husband died three years ago after taking only one avelox pill. He was being treated for a sinus infection. I found out that there was a black box warning on this medication for a while. My husbands throat swelled the following morning before his next was to be taken. I had a case filed because I knew it was the new medication that caused his death. Please give me your input I d really appreciate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question. I share your feelings.

Firstly I would like to say that this is a safe medicine. However allergic reactions can happen with any medicine. In your husband' s case it seems to be due to allergy. You should have mentioned complete medical details as arrhythmia, diabetes, or any other medicines.this is not a new medicine , so trial may not have been conducted.

I wish you good luck. I hope my reply will help you. Do write for follow up queries with complete medical history. Please write feedback. Thanks
