Can Azithral Be Taken On An Empty Stomach?

I have been prescribed azithral 500 on per day for dry cough. As advised by doctor, I am taking the medicine in the early morning, 2 hours before break fast. I have already taken the medicine for two days. I am facing constipation after taking this medicine. Is is safe to take in empty stomach, two hours before break fast ?

Hi! Dry cough is what everyone goes through. But a strong antibiotic such as Azithromycin just for that is unheard of. You will be cured no doubt but a less stronger antibiotic would have sufficed. Now, Azithromycin can be take either before of after meals. All drugs lead to some sort of stomach disturbance. Maybe your constipation is related to the drug or maybe not. But I'd recommend you to take the tablet 1 hour after meals for the remaining dosage. As for constipation, consume dietary fibre rich food - fruits and green leafy vegetables and drink plenty of water. Do this regularly for a healthy bowel.
