Can Azithromycin Be Taken To Treat Severe Skin Infections?

i am very confused dese days ,many of the doctors suggest azithromycin as a potent antibiotic and can heal skin infections but recent news i read in TOI that this drug can only cope up with upper respiratory tract infection and counteract its known action over skin and worsens the acne ..

Hi,

Azithromycin is not the first line treatment for acne. You can use antiseptic cream like soframycin initially for acne. If it is not responding, you can use topicalappicant like isotretioin gel with a dermatologist consultation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
