Is it safe for my 15 month old to take benadryl with his tylenol and amoxocillin? The amoxocillin is to help with his ear infection and the tylenol for the pain but he is so stuffy and runny nose and coughing so I gave him benadryl also he doesn t sleep so I m not sure if the 3ml I gave him will help with that he is 22lbs.

Hello,

The dose of Benadryl in children varies according to the weight of the child. Typically according to the dosing chart, children at 22 pounds can be given up to 5 mL but you should clarify this with his doctor.

You should consider normal saline nose spray to help with his nasal congestion. This is a very effective over-the-counter safe medication that is very commonly used to help relieve this symptom.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
