Can Benylin Be Given To Children For Cough Post Tonsils And Adenoid Removal?

Hi my daughter is 6 has Down syndrome and two days ago had tonsils and adenoids removed for sleep apnea. She has developed a persistent cough and I am worried that it will cause bleeding in get throat. She is on singulair for sleep apnea, Advil and Tylenol for pain control after surgery. I got her some childrens benelyn for dry cough. I am trying to find out if it is safe to give to her. She is small for ha rage 35 lbs so should I give her a half dose?
