Can Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy Be Taken For Recurring Menopausal Symptoms?
I am 58 and have already been through menopause ( last period 3/2009). My symptoms were off the charts for a few years and wound up taking Bio Identical Hormone replacement therapy for a few years. Now for the past year, my symptoms are back ( insomnia, hot flashes, night sweats, thinning hair and weight gain). Questions: should I take Bio Identical HPT again? I worry about breast cancer?
The only indication to start Bio identical HRT is when you have severe vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and vaginal dryness). So in your case, you can start it again. If you are worried about Breast cancer, you can start consult your doctor for a prescription for Tamoxifen, which will help prevent Breast cancer. Hope this helps.
