Can Calms Forte Be Taken Before A Surgery?

I am getting ready to have surgery in a week. I was told to stop all over the counter supplements. The one I am most interested in is Calms Forte, which I take before bedtime, along with Melatonin. If I don t take these, I can be without sleep. That is not an option. Was told I could get a prescription for a sleep aide. They make me drowzy the next day and don t work any better for a good night s sleep. Do you see any reason that Calms Forte and Melatonin would be a blood thinner or hamper anesthetics?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Let me tell you that as Calms Forte is a homoeopathic formulation, there is no problem whatsoever if you continue with it.

There is also no problem if you continue with melatonin as melatonin used under the tongue seems to be as effective at reducing anxiety before surgery as midazolam, a conventional medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
