Can Canesten Combi Be Used To Cure Recurring Thrush?

I have had a sexually transmitted infection a few years ago and I have previously suffered with thrush, also I have had periods of abnormal bleeding, everything has settled now and I think I have thrush again. Is it safe to use canesten combi (vaginal pessary)?

Hi,

If you have typical symptoms like itching, erythema and white curd like discharge, you can try the same drug. I used to give antihistamine like levocetirizine also to relieve itching. If symptoms not getting better in 2 days, kindly see your doctor for inspection.

It is better to rule out diabetes in case you are getting repeated attacks. Recurrent antibiotic use is another predisposing factor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
