Can Cerelac Be Given To A 2 Month Old Baby?

Just found out a friend has been only feeding her infant only Cerelac (wheat with milk and honey brand) and water since 2 months old. She had complications and infection with C-section and was unable to breastfeed. She said the baby refuses bottle with formula. She is giving 4 scoops of cereal at least 4 times a day and I am afraid the child will be receiving too much iron, zinc and other additives.

Hi...it is not advisable for a 2 month old to be fed with a formula which is intended to be used for a kid who is over 6 months old. As you said the kid will be receiving too much of solute load than the gut can handle and it might lead on to future problems of malabsorption and failure to thrive.

I suggest she give only age appropriate infant milk formula as you quote, she is unable to breast feed.
