Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Been using seroquel many years off label for sleep. Gives me tacicardia so I use with 2 mg of xanax, Changed reciently for restoril. Restoril has many side effects. Won t take that anymore. Is Chlorpromazine an option? Doctors are persecuted for prescribing benzodiazapines by the fed. government. I guess the government thinks it knows what to precribe more effectivly than your doctor. What are your recomendations?
It is not safe to take these medications together.
Taking Chlorpromazine while on Seroquel can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening.
The risk will be more if you have a heart condition called congenital long QT syndrome, other cardiac diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting).
I advise you to consult your treating doctor to prescribe an alternate effective medication to counteract the side effects of Seroquel.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali,
General & Family Physician
